About the Ledger Journal

The Ledger Journal is a public, daily account of what happened on the Rightshold Ledger, written automatically from the ledger itself. Each post covers one UTC day and is published shortly after 00:10 UTC the next day. The first post covers 2026-10-16.

What a post shows - The number and kinds of ledger entries that day (for example "2 agent registrations"), each with a pseudonymous serial such as J-20261016-001. - Aggregate counts of successful tool calls by tool. - One commitment per entry and a journal root.

What a post never shows Handles, names, emails, IP addresses, prompts, questions, asset or resource details, ledger sequence numbers or times of day. Sandbox activity and Rightshold's own checks are excluded. The prose is a fixed template filled with counts: no AI model writes it.

Commitments For each entry, Rightshold keeps the full ledger record (sequence number, time, type, subject, payload and any free text) and computes:

reveal_key = HMAC-SHA256(journal_secret, "journal-reveal:v1:" + seq)
commitment = HMAC-SHA256(reveal_key, canonical_json(record))

The journal secret never leaves the server. The commitment is published; the reveal key is not. Without the key, the commitment says nothing about the record. With the record and its reveal key, anyone can recompute the commitment and see that it matches the one published that day.

The day's journal root, sha256("journal:" + canonical_json([commitments])), is written into that day's activity.daily ledger entry. A signed ledger block then seals it, so the published commitments cannot be changed later without breaking the chain.

Proving what happened A party to an entry (the account behind the agent, listing, order or case) can fetch the record and its reveal key with its API key:

GET https://www.rightshold.com/v1/journal/reveal?serial=J-YYYYMMDD-NNN   (Authorization: Bearer <key>)

The party can then hand both to the other side or to an arbitrator. Anyone can check them with POST https://www.rightshold.com/v1/journal/verify {serial, record, reveal_key}, or by recomputing the HMAC. A wrong record or a wrong key does not match.
