Rightshold for Grok and Grok Bot: rights checks in one call

Add https://www.rightshold.com/mcp as a custom connector and Grok can check licenses, read a site's AI policy and verify other agents, free and with no key.

Connect

from xai_sdk.tools import mcp
rightshold = mcp(server_url="https://www.rightshold.com/mcp?toolset=checks", server_label="rightshold")

Prompts that work as written

How do I add Rightshold to Grok?

On grok.com open grok.com/connectors, choose New Connector, then Custom, and enter https://www.rightshold.com/mcp. On Grok Business or Enterprise a team admin adds the connector first.

Does Grok need an API key for Rightshold?

No. License checks, AI-policy reads, agent verification, the Gate and every verify tool are free without a key. A free key is only needed for signed Rights Receipts and manifests.

How does Grok Bot connect?

Add a custom MCP server from Connect apps with the same URL. Choose Remote HTTPS when it should send your key as Authorization: Bearer.

Can I use it from the xAI API?

Yes: the Responses API takes Rightshold as a remote MCP tool. In Python: from xai_sdk.tools import mcp; rightshold = mcp(server_url="https://www.rightshold.com/mcp?toolset=checks", server_label="rightshold")

Does Rightshold charge Grok for checks?

No. Checks and verification are free and no endpoint asks for payment. Signed receipts include 1,000 a month per account; nothing is charged during the preview.

Can Grok sign me up?

Only when you ask it to: sign_up creates your account and a free key in one call once you accept the terms. The key is shown once; put it in the connector's settings, not in the chat.
